corn snakes are part of the rat snake family and are some times called red rat snakes.
Corn snakes can be kept in vivariums or aquariums but make sure they are escape proof as snakes can find away out of most things if given the chance and even the smallest hole or gap is more than they need to escape.They don't need a big space to live in most snakes feel safer in small spaces but you will need the length X width of the vivarium to be the same size as the length of the snake at least.Its also best to start the snake in something small and increase the size of its home as it grows.
corn snakes eat mice, its best to feed them dead mice that you can buy in the pet shops for food as there is no chance of the snake getting hurt by the mouse this way, live food is too much of a risk and a scared mouse could bite your snake hurting it or worse.Snakes only need to eat once a week for baby's and once every 10 days for adults so they don't cost alot to feed and the don't poop as often as other pets.
snakes are cold blooded so you will need to provide heating for your snake, you will need to heat one half of the vivarium and leave one half cold so the snake can move from side to side to control it temperature, the hot side will need to be 85f. you can use heat pads or heat bulbs to heat your vivarium but remember to use a thermostat to control the temperature or you could cook your snake or worse burn your house down.
